The Tata Punch EV is set to receive a mid-cycle refresh, just 2 years after its launch. The electric SUV was launched in India back in January 2024 at a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh. Last month, the ICE model of the SUV was facelifted and launched at Rs 5.59 lakh. The Punch EV facelift will get some cosmetic and feature updates, but it is expected to retain its powertrain and battery specs.

Tata Punch EV facelift: What to expect?
The upcoming Punch EV will share the design language of its newly-launched ICE sibling. There will be some EV-exclusive changes on the electric SUV, including a front charging port and a shut-off grille. It will receive exclusive ‘EV’ badging as well. The front fascia of the EV will get connected LED DRLs, distinguishing it from the ICE Punch. At the back, the LED tail lamps will be connected by a light bar.

Not much is known about the interior layout of the Tata Punch EV facelift. We don’t expect radical changes inside the SUV. It will likely retain its dashboard layout. Tata may equip it with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system found on the Nexon EV. It will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Joining this screen will be a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Other features will include automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IVRM, wireless charging, ADAS, and more. We wouldn’t be surprised if the automaker introduces a new interior colour theme for the top variants.

No changes are expected on the battery and powertrain fronts. The LR variants of the electric SUV produce a maximum power output of 122hp and 190Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Standard variant puts out 82hp and 114Nm. The former can go from 0-100kmph in 9.5 seconds with the top speed capped at 140kmph. The latter can accomplish the same feat in 13.5 seconds.

The LR variants pack a 35kWh battery. This battery pack offers a 421km driving range. It is compatible with fast charging. Using a 50W DC fast charger, it can go from a 10% to an 80% charge in just 40 minutes. In just 15 minutes of DC fast charging, it can accumulate enough charge to travel 90km. Meanwhile, the Standard variants are equipped with a 25kWh battery with a 315km driving range.

Final Thoughts
Prices for the current Punch EV lineup start at Rs 9.99 lakh and go up to Rs 14.44 lakh. The updated version of the EV will demand a small premium over these prices. Upon launch, it will rival the Citroen eC3, MG Comet EV, Mahindra XUV400 EV, and Tata Tiago EV in India.
