The Honda City sedan is set to be refreshed with a facelifted model next year. The current 5th-gen version of the sedan was launched in 2020. It received its first facelift in 2023. The second facelift is due to arrive in 2026, with the 6th-gen version slated for a 2028 launch. The 2026 facelift will enter the testing phase soon. It is expected to launch in the second quarter of next year.

Honda City 2026: What to expect?
The upcoming Honda City facelift will have the same dimensions as the current model. It will get several cosmetic upgrades along its exterior. It will take design inspiration from the Honda Civic, which isn’t on sale in India but is available in international markets. The front fascia of the 2026 City will feature a redesigned bumper along with updated LED headlamps and DRLs. The grille will get several tweaks as well. It might feature a new pattern. The profile of the sedan will remain unchanged, but the alloy wheels will get a new look. The LED tail lamps will follow the design language of the DRLs up front.
Inside, the 2026 Honda City will retain its current layout. It will receive new premium trims along the dashboard and door panels. Honda could also update the touchscreen infotainment system with a larger display. The ADAS package, which made its debut on the current City model, will be updated with new features as well. The current model rocks an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-speaker audio system, an electric sunroof, ambient lighting, and wireless charging. The Honda Connect app for the sedan is compatible with Amazon Echo and Google Assistant.
Things will remain the same under the hood of the 2026 City. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 121hp and comes mated to a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the hybrid powertrain produces a peak power output of 126hp and is paired with an e-CVT gearbox. Honda claims a fuel efficiency of 17.8kmpl and 18.4kmpl on the petrol-manual and petrol-automatic variants of the City. The strong-hybrid variant is reported to offer a fuel efficiency of 27.13kmpl.

Final Thoughts
Prices for the current model of the Honda City start at Rs 11.95 lakh and go up to Rs 18.38 lakh. The facelift will demand a small premium. We expect its prices to start at Rs 12.20 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India.
