Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by the Bharat NCAP. Earlier this year, Euro NCAP crash tested the electric SUV and gave it a 4-star safety rating. Bharat NCAP’s safety rating applies to the Delta, Zeta, and Alpha trims of Maruti’s debut EV. The e Vitara is set to launch in India very soon. Its booking window will open soon after launch.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Bharat NCAP crash test results explained
In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) test, the e Vitara scored 31.49 points out of a possible 32. In the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test, the electric SUV showed good protection to the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, and feet. Protection to the chest and legs was adequate. Meanwhile, the passenger’s dummy showed good protection overall. The Side Movable Deformable Barrier and Side Pole Impact tests did not present any issues either, as the driver’s dummies showed good protection in all key areas.
In the Child Occupant Protection (COP) test, the electric SUV scored 43 points out of a possible 49. It garnered a Dynamic score of 49 points (max. 49), a CRS Installation score of 12 points (max. 12), and a Vehicle Assessment score of 7 points (max. 13). The SUV was crash tested with dummies for 13-month and 3-year old children.
The e Vitara packs safety features like 7 airbags, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a blind spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with auto-hold, a 360-degree camera, and an Acoustic Vehicle Alarm System (AVAS). Additionally, its top-spec trim comes with a Level 2 ADAS suite.
The electric SUV comes in 2 battery pack sizes – 49kWh and 61kWh. The driving range for these battery packs will be revealed upon launch. The front-mounted electric motor produces a maximum power output of 143hp on the 49kWh variants and 173hp on the larger battery variants.
In terms of creature comforts, the EV packs a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster on board, too. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, an Infinity audio system by Harmon, automatic climate control, a 10-way adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seating, ambient lighting with multiple colour zones, wireless charging, and an air purifier.

Final Thoughts
The price of the e Vitara in India will be revealed upon launch. The electric SUV is already on sale in the United Kingdom. In India, it will rival the Hyundai Creta Electric, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, Tata Nexon EV, and MG Windsor EV in India.
