Buyers face a 30-week waiting period for Tata Harrier EV

The Tata Harrier EV was launched in India last month at a starting price of Rs 21.49 lakh. The electric SUV is available in 3 trim levels (Adventure, Fearless+, and Empowered) with RWD and AWD configurations. The entry-level Adventure trim is in the highest demand, with a waiting period between 28 to 30 weeks. The top-spec Empowered trim has the shortest waiting period.

The Tata Harrier EV comes in 2 battery pack options: 65kWh and 75kWh. The 75kWh battery pack offers 622km MIDC-certified range. Tata’s in-house C75 drive cycle test places its range between 480-505km. Meanwhile, the 65kWh has an ARAI-certified range of 538km and C75-tested range between 420-445km.

The 75kWh battery pack takes 25 minutes to go from a 20% to 80% charge using a 120kW DC fast charger. Meanwhile, a 15A plug point takes 29 hours to fully charge the battery pack. The RWD variants of the Tata Harrier EV are powered by a single, rear-axle-mounted electric motor. This motor generates a maximum power output of 238hp and 315Nm of torque. The AWD variants put out 390hp and 594Nm.

The Tata Harrier EV is decked with features like a 10-speaker JBL audio system, digital key, smart card, remote key, built-in navigation, memory seating, rear headrests, centre armrest with cupholders, a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, a dual-zone climate control, cooled storage, an air purifier, ambient lighting, 65W wireless charging, and more. Its 14.53-inch touchscreen infotainment system uses the world’s first Samsung Neo QLED automotive display. The electric SUV has a dual-tone dashboard and a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo.

Tata Harrier EV is one of the safest electric SUVs in India. It received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP last month. The EV packs safety features like 7 airbags, ESP with i-VBAC, Acoustic Vehicle Alert System, Hill Descent Control, Hill Hold Assist, TPMS, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, a 360-degree camera, and an e-IVRM with a digital video recorder. There is a Level 2 ADAS package on board as well.

The steep demand for the Tata Harrier EV is not expected to die out any time soon. Its versatile battery and powertrain options, along with premium features and relatively affordable pricing, make it an exciting option in the Indian market.
