2027 Renault Kwid spotted testing in Brazil

Renault is currently road-testing the new international-spec version of the Kwid in Brazil. The India-spec Renault Kwid received a facelift back in July 2026. The 2027 model gets major cosmetic tweaks along the front fascia. The interior layout has been refreshed as well, and some instrumentation and feature upgrades are on the cards. It is believed that the India-spec model will also be updated with these changes next year.

2027 Renault Kwid: What to expect?

The test mule of the Renault Kwid spotted in Brazil was completely undisguised. The new model has received major changes along its front fascia. The new rectangular enclosed grille looks similar to the one on the all-electric version of the hatchback. The bumper is integrated with black plastic elements and a faux silver frame with a segmented pattern. The LED headlamps and DRLs remain unchanged.

There are no big changes along the sides. The hatchback retains its profile and silhouette. The only change comes in the form of a new design for the wheels. The flap-style door handles are mounted in their traditional positions. At the back, the tail lamps get clear lenses. The tailgate and bumper remain unchanged.

The interior of the 2027 Kwid looks similar to its all-electric sibling. The driver’s cockpit is equipped with a TFT instrument cluster. Right next to it lies a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. The sleek, Y-shaped AC vents are placed below this display. There are plenty of physical buttons and rotary controls on the dash. The current India-spec model comes with features like Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, power windows, manual air conditioning, pollen filter, USB and aux-in ports, remote keyless entry with central locking, day-night IVRM, electrically adjustable ORVM, and more.

Safety features of the current model include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), 3-point seatbelts for all seats, reverse parking sensors, ABS, EBD with brake assist, speed alert warning, Hill Start Assist (HSA), pedestrian protection, and more.

No changes are expected under the hood. The compact hatchback will continue to be powered by the 1.0-litre petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 68hp and 92.5Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated manual gearbox. The hatchback also comes with a retrofitted CNG kit applied at the dealership level.

Final Thoughts

The updated model is expected to go on sale in early 2027. In India, it will demand a small premium over the current model. The prices of the current lineup start at Rs 4.53 lakh and go up to Rs 5.85 lakh. The hatchback rivals the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and S-Presso in India.
