2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5-Seat Unveiled

The American car manufacturer unveiled its new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5-seater SUV. This new SUV will be placed below Grand Cherokee L and the Meridian. Most likely the company will introduce the new SUV in 2022. In India, the car will be imported in CKD units to reduce their costs. Even if the new jeep shares the same body panels and design with  Grand Cherokee L it sits around 294mm shorter. 

The company also made some aesthetics changes to keep the new offering fresh in the market. It gets air curtains, active grille-shutters and re-styled rear pillars, to improve the aerodynamic efficiency. As compared to Grand Cherokee L with which a lot of interior details are shared. The Grand Cherokee comes with a restyled dashboard, which holds a 10.1-inch touch screen head up infotainment system. 

A new 10.1-inch touch screen has been offered on the passenger side as well keeping the navigation and entertainment in check. Along with that, the instrument console is also a 10.1-inch screen showing all the information related to the car. Apart from these there also will be a wireless smartphone charging system, rear-seat entertainment screens and smartphone connectivity.

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee will be offered with 3 engine options. The first will be a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine producing 290bhp. A more powerful option of 5.7-litre Hermi V8 engine producing 357 bhp. These engines will be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox along with Jeep’s 4xe technology. The last fuel-economical hybrid option being a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine coupled with twin electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. 

Being economical there is no compromise with power as it produces a whopping 375 bhp of power and 637Nm of torque. The plug-in hybrid motor features a 17kWh 400V battery that allows the Jeep Cherokee to run around 40km on an electric-only range. The owner can choose from three drive modes to run the SUV. 

The company will also avail a Trailhawk variant of the car which will have a ground clearance of 278mm and will offer a water wading capacity of 610mm. Along with these features, it will also have a two-speed transfer box, an electric limited-slip differential and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system.
