Xiaomi SU7 EV showcased in India

As a part of its 10-year anniversary celebrations in India, Xiaomi showcased the SU7 EV in the country for the first time. The electric sedan made its global debut in December 2023 and was launched in China in March 2024 at a starting price of CNY 215,900 (~ Rs 24.78 lakh). It remains to be seen whether the EV will be launched in India.

Xiaomi SU7 EV: Everything you need to know

Xiaomi SU7’s external design is inspired by the new generation of McLaren and Tesla sedans. The EV stands at dimensions of 4,997mm x 1,963mm x 1,440mm. It has a wheelbase of 3,000mm. Depending on the variant, the kerb weight of the electric sedan lies between 1,980 – 2,205 kg.

In China, the Xiaomi SU7 is available in four variants – SU7, SU7 Pro, SU7 Max, and a limited Founder’s Edition. The Xiaomi SU7 Pro is priced at CNY 245,900 (~ Rs 28.23 lakh). Meanwhile, the SU7 Max fetches CNY 299,900 (~ Rs 34.43 lakh).

The three battery pack options on the Xiaomi SU7 are sourced from CATL. The 73.6kWh battery pack on the entry-level variants offers a driving range of up to 700km. Meanwhile, the 94.3kWh and 101.3kWh battery packs deliver 830km and 800km respectively. These figures are certified by the Chinese light-duty vehicle test cycle (CLTC). Using Xiaomi’s 486V architecture, these battery packs can power the electric sedan up to 350km in just 15 minutes of charge. The larger 871V architecture can offer a whopping 510km of driving range after a 15-minute charge.

The Xiaomi SU7 is available in RWD and AWD options. The RWD variants produce a maximum power output of 299hp and 400Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the AWD variants put out 673hp and 838Nm. The top-spec SU7 Max variant can reach a top speed of 265kmph.

Conclusion

The Xiaomi SU7 runs the latest HyperOS which unlocks the true potential of the EV. Hailed as the next-gen OS, it will bring together the smartphone, car, and home experiences under one roof. While it is not confirmed whether the SU7 will launch in India, it rivals the Tesla Model 3, BYD Seal, and BMW i4 globally.
