Volvo has taken the wraps off the facelifted version of the S90 luxury sedan. The 2025 Volvo S90 comes with a refreshed design, updated instrumentation with high-end tech, and a better driving range (for the plug-in hybrid model). The current-gen S90 retails for Rs 68.25 lakh in India.

2025 Volvo S90 facelift: Everything you need to know

The Volvo S90 facelift follows the design language of the XC90 SUV. The Thor Hammer LED DRLs and headlamps flanking the grille are now sleeker and infused with Matrix-design LED technology. The DRLs stretch all the way to the grille. The new grille features diagonal slats instead of the vertical ones from the outgoing model. The air vents on the sculpted bumper have a silver finish along the sides. The profile of the sedan is identical to the current-gen model. The alloy wheel design has been updated. At the back, the taillamps showcase a new T-shaped design.

Inside, the Volvo S90 facelift gets a bigger 11.2-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment system runs a new user interface, which is quicker and more responsive than its predecessor. It is also equipped to receive Over The Air (OTA) updates from the manufacturer. The cabin of the sedan is made out of new premium materials. The S90 also features Pilot Assist – an assisted driving function meant for multi-lane highways and single-lane roads.

The mechanical specs of the Volvo S90 facelift have not been revealed yet. The automaker has confirmed that the sedan will be available in mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid variants. The plug-in hybrid variant’s all-electric range has been improved to 80km. Previously, it offered an all-electric range of 74km.

Erik Severinson, Chief Product and Strategy Officer at Volvo Cars, said, “The S90 is a key part of our product portfolio for the coming years in some of our Asian markets. Together with the new fully electric ES90, the new S90 ensures we have a complete and attractive offering for customers who value safety and want to drive a large, sleek Volvo sedan.”

Final Thoughts

The Volvo S90 facelift will first go on sale in China this summer. This will be followed by a launch in selected markets. The automaker will bring the sedan to India in the coming months. It will rival the likes of the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, and the upcoming Lexus ES.
