Toyota Urban Cruiser EV unveiled globally

Toyota has taken the wraps of its upcoming all-electric SUV, Urban Cruiser EV. The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. The latter was unveiled in Milan last month. The concept model of the Urban Cruiser EV was revealed last year. The production-spec model is fractionally smaller than its concept model. Its public debut will take place at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Everything you need to know

The new Toyota Urban Cruiser EV stands at dimensions of 4,285mm x 1,800mm x 1,640mm and has a 2,700mm wheelbase. The front fascia of the EV features a sleek grille and thin LED headlamps, albeit a little more pronounced than the concept model. The front end of the electric SUV follows Toyota’s ‘Hammerhead’ design language. Along the sides, the door handles are positioned along the C-pillar, a departure from the e Vitara. The SUV’s rear face is similar to its Maruti cousin. The wraparound tail lamps are connected by a light bar.

The interior layout of the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is identical to its Maruti counterpart. The electric SUV features a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The touchscreen infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include a 360-degree camera, a single-zone automatic climate control, a powered driver’s seat, a sunroof, a JBL sound system, wireless charging, and more. Safety features include a pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane keep assist, and more.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be made available in 2 battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh. The smaller battery pack variant will be made available exclusively with a front-mounted electric motor. This electric motor can produce a maximum power output of 144hp and 189Nm. Meanwhile, the 61kWh battery variants can produce an increased output of 174hp with a front-mounted motor. In an AWD configuration, these variants can put out an additional 65hp. The AWD variants have a maximum power output of 184hp and 300Nm of torque.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will make its public debut at the Brussels Motor Show, which is scheduled to begin on January 10, 2025. The electric SUV will be launched in India later in 2025. It will be produced at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat. Upon launch, it will rival the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra XUV400, Tata Curvv EV, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
