With the new facelift, Tata Motors has brought the Punch SUV on par with the design of its all-electric sibling. The ICE model gets vertically-stacked trapezoidal LED headlamps and sleek LED DRLs. However, unlike the EV, the LED DRLs on the ICE model are joined by a glossy black trim and not a light bar. The bumper houses the air intake units and an air dam. The latter is surrounded by a silver frame.

The Punch facelift retains the profile of the outgoing model. The only difference is a new look for the 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the back, the design of the LED tail lamps has been refreshed. They are now connected by a sleek LED light bar. The rear bumper is integrated with a faux skid plate to give a more muscular look. Tata has added 4 new paint shades for the Punch – Caramel, Bengal Rouge, Coorg Clouds, and Cyantafic. The Daytona Grey and Pristine White colour options have been carried forward from the outgoing model.

There aren’t many changes on the interior, as the Punch facelift continues with the dashboard layout of the outgoing model. It retains the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, Tata has equipped the SUV with a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster. It also gets a new 2-spoke steering wheel with a gloss black trim and an illuminated Tata logo. There is a small touch-sensitive climate control panel in the cabin as well. Other features include a 4-speaker and 4-tweeter audio system, auto-dimming IVRM, an air purifier, 65W Type-C charging, wireless charging, and more.

On the safety front, the Tata Punch facelift gets 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a 360-degree camera, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, and more features. The SUV has been awarded 5 stars for safety by the Bharat NCAP.

Buyers can choose from 3 powertrain options for the Tata Punch. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated ‘Revotron’ petrol engine has been carried forward from the outgoing model. This engine generates a maximum power output of 88hp and 115Nm of torque. In a CNG guise, it puts out 73hp and 103Nm. The CNG model has a split-cylinder setup. Both these engines can be mated to a manual or AMT gearbox.

The facelifted model also gets a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. This engine also does duty on the Tata Nexon. It produces a maximum power output of 120hp and 170Nm of torque. However, it can only be mated to a manual transmission on the Punch. Furthermore, it is only available on the Adventure and Accomplished+ S trims.

Mr Shailesh Chandra, MD & CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said, “The Punch has always been a reflection of India’s evolving ambitions, democratizing the SUV experience with a feature-rich package that earned it a place among India’s best-selling SUVs. The Punch gave India the freedom to explore long, stress-free, inter-city drives with its commanding position and confidence behind the wheel. Today, we have taken this experience to the next level. With the new Punch, we’ve redefined what an SUV in this segment can be – shaped by customer insights and engineered with new age technology at its core. It’s faster, smarter, and safer, complemented by a bold, muscular stance with the confidence to truly Command Max. This evolution reflects our passion for continuous innovation towards enhancing customer delight. We’re excited for the new Punch to win more hearts across India.”
