Tata Curvv: Here’s what’s coming

The Tata Curvv is a crossover version of the Nexon SUV. Up front, it takes design inspiration from the current-gen Nexon, featuring a sleek LED light bar running across the grille and edgy cutouts for the LED headlamps. The DRLs merge seamlessly into the light bar.

In profile, Tata Curvv looks undeniably like a coupe-SUV crossover. The sloping roofline of the Curvv gives it its distinguishing look. The crossover stands at dimensions of 4,308mm x 1,810mm x 1,630mm. It has a wheelbase that spans 2,560mm. The ICE version of the crossover has a boot space capacity of 422 litres.

The dashboard layout and instrumentation details still remain a mystery. It is expected that Tata Curvv will match the look of the Nexon SUV inside as well.  Tata says that Curvv’s interior ‘integrates state-of-the-art onboard technologies and Human Machine Interface’.

The powertrain specs of the Tata Curvv EV will be similar to the Nexon. The crossover will be available in MR and LR variants like its  SUV counterpart. The LR variants will have a driving range of up to 500 km. The ICE variant of the crossover will be powered by the 1.5-litre CRAIL diesel engine which produces a maximum power output of 113hp and 260Nm of torque. Tata may also add the 125hp, 225Nm producing 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine to the lineup.

Conclusion

The new Tata Curvv is expected to be priced between Rs 11-12 lakh. Expect a significant premium on the EV version of the crossover. Upon launch, the Curvv will primarily rival the Citroen C3X along with other midsize SUVs like Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
