Tata Altroz gets a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP

Tata Altroz has secured a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP after undergoing a series of crash tests. The facelifted model was launched in India in May 2025 at a starting price of Rs 6.89 lakh. The pre-facelift model of the premium hatchback carried a 5-star rating from Global NCAP. It remains to be seen whether the facelifted model will be crash tested by the GNCAP as well.

Tata Altroz: Bharat NCAP crash test results explained

Tata Altroz scored 29.65 points out of a possible 32 in the Adult Occupants Protection (AOP) test. In the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier test, the hatchback offered good protection to the driver’s head, neck, chest, pelvis, and feet. The right and left tibias showed adequate protection. The protection offered to the passenger remained consistently good throughout the body, except the right tibia, which showed adequate protection.

The Side Pole Impact test returned good results for all body parts. However, in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier test, the premium hatchback offered marginal protection to the driver’s chest and adequate protection to their abdomen.

In this Child Occupant Protection (COP) test, the premium hatchback scored 44.90 points out of a possible 49. Child seats for 18-month-old and 3-year-old children were attached using CRS. The Altroz garnered a Dynamic score of 23.90 points out of a possible 24, a CRS installation score of 12 out of a maximum 12 points, and a Vehicle assessment score of 9 points out of a possible 13.

Safety features on the Altroz include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), seat belt reminders, pedestrian protection, ISOFIX mounts, Hill Hold Assist, SOS calling, and more.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the Altroz facelift start at Rs 6.89 lakh and go up to Rs 11.49 lakh. It has the most versatile powertrain options in its segment. The 3 engine options include an 87hp, 1.2-litre NA petrol engine, an 89hp 1.5-litre diesel engine, and a 73hp producing CNG engine. It rivals the Maruti Suzuki BalenoHyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza in India.
