Sketch design of Skoda Slavia revealed ahead of its launch

Skoda is all set to launch its new premium mid-size sedan worldwide. The sketch design of Skoda Slavia was revealed officially by the company. As Skoda Rapid got discontinued a few days ago we can expect Slavia to be a perfect replacement. After its own SUV sibling Kushaq, this will be the second car in the fleet to have the company’s new MQB A0 IN platform. The launch price of the car is still under wraps by the company and is expected to be announced in 2022.

The sketch that the company showcased shows us the exact design of how the new upcoming Slavia will look like. Starting with the front. It will continue to sport the look-alike grill that was in the recently discontinued Octavia. Holding the grill is a new pair of headlamps with L shaped daytime running LED DRLs.the hood design and bumper holding the fog lamps look similar to the discontinued car by Skoda.

Talking about the side profile we can see a new Allow design and a slope at the end merging the rear profile. The new side mirror looks sharp and the car is surely having a longer wheelbase which will give ample legroom for co-passengers at the back. Talking about the rear, the car has signature C shaped tail lights extending the boot. We can see a lot of chrome used in the back with redesigned bumpers.

Powering the car will be two engine options that are used in Kushaq. The first 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI unit produces 115hp of power and is mated with a 6-speed manual or torque converter. The other option is a more powerful 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI motor producing 150hp. The same will sport a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG automatic.

We can anticipate that the interior will be luxurious and will hold all the latest features like a touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, push to start/stop and more. For safety, the company will include six airbags, a rear parking camera, cruise control and a multi-collision brake. The car was tested in GNCAP as well but as the car is not revealed the results are not showcased yet.

In India, the car is expected to be released at a price point between Rs 10-16 lakh ex-showroom India. As the car will be a mid-sized sedan it will lock horns with popular cars like  Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India.
