Nissan Patrol to launch in India next year

Nissan India is slowly expanding its car catalogue in India. Before August 2024, the automaker had only one car in its Indian portfolio – the Magnite SUV. In August, Nissan launched the X-Trail in India at a starting price of Rs 49.92 lakh. This was followed by the launch of the Magnite facelift. The automaker now plans to launch its flagship Patrol SUV in the country by the end of 2025 or early 2026. The next-gen Nissan Patrol made its global debut in Abu Dhabi last month. Currently, the SUV is on sale in left-hand drive markets only.

Nissan Patrol: What to expect

The launch of Nissan Patrol in India will be preceded by the introduction of two new mass-market SUVs. The two SUVs will likely be manufactured in India. Meanwhile, the Patrol will be a CBU import like the X-Trail. The automaker had plans to bring the previous-generation Patrol to India in 2020 but opted for a different strategy.

The next-gen Nissan Patrol features the signature V-motion grille up front. This grille is now more integrated into the SUV’s body and flanked on either side by Double C-shaped headlights featuring Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) technology. The silhouette of the SUV is similar to its outgoing version. It rests on 22-inch alloy wheels. The LED tail lamps mimic the design language of the LED headlamps. They are connected by an LED light bar.

Inside, the Nissan Patrol features twin 14.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. Buyers can opt for 12.8-inch displays for the rear seat passengers. These displays support entertainment on the go, via Miracast, HDMI or USB inputs. The SUV’s cabin has a 64-colour ambient lighting system with customisable live backgrounds.

Other features include a 12-speaker Klipsch premium audio system, a panoramic sunroof, NissanConnect 2.0 with Google Built-In, ProPilot tech, and more. The ADAS package on the SUV has features like Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Rear Automatic Emergency Braking.

Nissan Patrol is available in two V6 engine options. The new 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 425hp and 700Nm of torque. In comparison to the outgoing V8 engine, this is a 7% increase in power and a 25% boost in torque. Meanwhile, the 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine puts out 316hp and 386Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a 9-speed automatic transmission. There are six drive modes on offer – Standard, Sand, Rock, Mud/Rut, Eco, and Sport.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, the Nissan Patrol will first launch in left-hand drive markets. The automaker will roll out the SUV across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East region starting from November 1, 2024. In India, the SUV will rival the Toyota LC300 and Land Cruiser Prado.
