Nissan has announced a new 7-seater MPV for the Indian market. The ‘Nissan Gravite’ will go on sale in early 2026. The automaker has dropped the debut teaser for the MPV, giving a glimpse of its nameplate and front fascia. The Gravite will be based on the Renault Triber. The latter was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 6.30 lakh back in July. The price announcement for the Gravite will take place in March 2026.

The Nissan Gravite will be underpinned by the same CMF-A+ platform as its Renault sibling. Its silhouette and dimensions will be identical to the Triber as well. The key difference will lie in the design. The Gravite will feature a bold front fascia with a signature C-shaped grille from Nissan. The bumper will get some significant tweaks as well. The headlamp design will be similar to the Triber, but they will get different illumination units. Along the sides, the MPV will distinguish itself with a new look for the alloy wheels. At the back, the bumper will get some tweaks, and the tail lamp design will be updated. The tailgate will feature the ‘GRAVITE’ lettering.
The teaser drop does not reveal any details about Gravite’s interior. The MPV is expected to carry forward the dashboard and cabin layout of the Triber. Nissan might introduce a new dual-tone colour theme for its MPV. Both models will very likely share their instrumentation and features. The Nissan Triber packs an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, second and third row AC vents, a start/stop push button, and wireless charging.
Safety features like 6 airbags (standard), a 360-degree camera, ABS, front parking sensors, cruise control, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring Sensor, traction control, hill hold assist, and ISOFIX child anchorages will also be carried forward from the Triber.
The Gravite will share its powertrain with the Triber MPV. The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine will generate a maximum power output of 72hp and 96Nm of torque. Buyers will be able to choose between a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox. A CNG powertrain will be added later on.
Mr Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “The All-New Gravite is a testament to Nissan Motor India’s renewed focus on the evolving Indian market. Deeply rooted in the fabric of the country, it is designed to be the perfect companion for the diverse needs of our customers. As the second model in our all-new product line-up, the Gravite marks a pivotal step in our transformation journey and reinforces our commitment to delivering vehicles that resonate with the aspirations of Indian consumers.”

The Gravite MPV will be manufactured locally at Nissan’s plant in Chennai. Its launch will be followed by the introduction of the Tekton – Nissan’s upcoming midsize SUV for the Indian market. We expect the prices for the Gravite to start around Rs 7 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Renault Triber, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, and Kia Carens.
