MG Motor’s unique Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model is the primary driver behind its success in India. Prices for the standard Windsor EV range start at Rs 14 lakh for the entry-level Excite variant and go up to Rs 16 lakh for the top-spec Essence trim. Meanwhile, the BaaS model brings the prices down to Rs 9.99 lakh for the Excite variant and Rs 11.99 lakh for the Essence trim. The subscription price for the battery is set at Rs 3.90/km.
The MG Windsor EV is powered by a single electric motor that is mounted on the front axle. This motor produces a maximum power output of 136hp and 300Nm of torque. The 38kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 331km. It can be charged from 0-80% in 55 minutes using a 45kW fast charger. The 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC home chargers can fully charge the battery pack in 14 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively.
The Windsor EV also comes in a ‘Pro’ avatar. The Pro model rocks a larger, 52.9kWh battery pack. It can go up to 449km on a full charge. The 7.4kW home charger takes up to 9.5 hours to fully charge this battery pack. Meanwhile, a 60kW DC fast charger can take it from 20 to 80% in 50 minutes. The output of the Pro remains unchanged from the standard model.
In terms of features, the Windsor EV flaunts a free-floating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster on board as well. The electric crossover has a seating capacity of 5 people. Its ‘aero lounge’ seats can recline at an angle of 135 degrees. Other features of the EV include wireless charging, ambient lighting, a 9-speaker audio system, a powered driver’s seat, and a panoramic sunroof. The Pro model also comes with Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Load (V2L) functionalities, which allow the EV to charge other electric cars and electronic devices.
On the safety front, the Windsor EV packs 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, parking cameras at the front and the rear, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 ADAS package.
