MG Hector and Hector Plus prices hiked by up to Rs 30,000

MG Motor India has hiked the prices of its bestselling full-sized SUVs. The MG Hector and Hector Plus are now dearer by up to Rs 30,000. The Select Pro and Smart Pro trims of the Hector have received the highest price hike. The two SUVs were facelifted in December 2025. Other MG offerings sold through the ‘Select’ retail network have also become pricier.

Since MG Motor has not hiked the price of the entry-level variant of the Hector, its starting price remains unchanged. Its Select Pro and Smart Pro trims are pricier by Rs 30,000. The Sharp Pro variants have had their cost increased by Rs 20,000. Meanwhile, all variants of the Hector Plus are pricier by Rs 20,000.

The Hector and Hector Plus share the same powertrain. The SUVs come in 2 engine options. The E20-compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 142hp and 250Nm. Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre diesel engine puts out 168hp and 350Nm. Both engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine is also available with a CVT automatic transmission.

The MG Hector can seat 5 people, while the Hector Plus comes in 6 and 7-seat layouts. The SUVs feature a portrait-oriented 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with multi-touch controls. The climate settings can be changed with two-finger gestures. The volume can be adjusted using three-finger gestures. Other features include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an air filter, push-button start/stop, a powered driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, and more.

Final Thoughts

Despite the price hike, the MG Hector and Hector Plus continue to rival the Mahindra XUV 7XOTata SafariMahindra Scorpio NTata Sierra, and Hyundai Alcazar. MG Motor is currently gearing up to launch the Majestor in India. Upon launch, it will become the automaker’s flagship SUV in the country.
