Maruti Suzuki Victoris: A new avatar for international markets

Maruti plans on exporting the Victoris SUV to over 100 countries and regions. The first shipment, consisting of more than 450 units, will reach the markets in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. The Victoris and Across are cosmetically and mechanically identical. Suzuki also retails the Toyota RAV4-based Across in the UK. However, for the rest of the global markets, it will use the ‘Across’ nameplate for the rebadged version of Victoris.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris borrows its powertrain from the Grand Vitara. It comes in mild and strong hybrid configurations. Maruti’s 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine with mild hybrid technology generates a maximum power output of 103hp and 137Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre TNGA petrol engine from Toyota with a strong hybrid system puts out 115hp and 137Nm. The CNG engine puts out 89hp.

The mild hybrid variants have a fuel economy of 21.18km/l and 21.06km/l with manual and automatic transmissions, respectively. With AWD onboard, this number drops to 19.07km/l. The strong hybrid variants offer a mileage of 28.65km/l. Lastly, the CNG variants have a mileage of 27.02km/kg.

In terms of features, the Victoris and Across pack a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with multiple display modes, an 8-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos support, automatic climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, Heads-Up Display, a panoramic sunroof, an air purifier, connected car tech, wireless charging, and more.

Mr Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Maruti Suzuki’s export journey is guided by the vision of Make in India, Make for the World. In calendar year 2025, with exports of over 3.9 lakh vehicles, we emerged as India’s number one passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth year in a row. The year also marked our re-entry into Europe with the start of exports of our first Battery Electric Vehicle, e VITARA. If we look at growth of India’s passenger vehicle exports in the past five years from CY2020 to CY2025, while the rest of industry grew by 1.43 times, Maruti Suzuki exports grew by 4.67 times. The addition of VICTORIS will further support our export ambitions, and we are hopeful it will be well received in international markets.”
