Maruti Suzuki is all set to enter the EV-sphere next year, with the launch of eVX. So far, the EV market in India is dominated by Tata, which has multiple all-electric offerings across various segments. Maruti Suzuki eVX was first showcased at Auto Expo earlier this year and has since been spotted testing in Europe on multiple occasions. The automaker has now confirmed that it will export the India-made eVX to foreign markets as well.

Maruti Suzuki eVX: Everything we know so far

Maruti Suzuki eVX will be produced at the automaker’s plant in Gujarat. It is being jointly developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota as a part of their global partnership venture. The electric SUV was spotted testing in Europe this summer. The test unit looked very similar to the model that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023. The SUV gets a flat nose up front, along with edgy headlamps and a shut-off grille. The profile of the eVX features a sloping roofline, which gives it a coupe-like look. The rear door handles are positioned at the C-pillar.

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will get a twin-screen unit for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. The floating centre console houses the rotary dial. The SUV’s steering has a two-spoke design. From what we know, the eVX will get a 360-degree camera and an ADAS package as far as the safety features are concerned.

Maruti Suzuki has developed a new platform for its upcoming EVs. The eVX will be the first to be underpinned by this platform. The 60kWh battery pack can power the EV for 550km. The battery pack and electric motor on the eVX will be manufactured locally, which will help the automaker in cutting down the cost of the vehicle. Entry-level variants of the Maruti Suzuki eVX may get a smaller battery pack with a lower driving range.

Conclusion

Since the eVX is being jointly produced by Suzuki and Toyota, it will also spawn a Toyota counterpart. More details about the EV will be announced in the coming months. Upon launch, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will rival Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV in India.
