Maruti Suzuki e Vitara showcased, driving range confirmed

Maruti Suzuki has showcased its debut EV for the second time this year. The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara made its first appearance in India at the Bharat Global Mobility Expo back in January. The electric SUV broke cover globally in Milan, Italy, last year. Since then, it has gone on sale in international markets, but its launch in India has been delayed due to production shortages. The SUV will finally go on sale in January 2026. Its booking window will open later this month.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: A closer look at the confirmed specs

The e Vitara stands at dimensions of 4,272mm x 1,800mm x 1,640mm and has a 2,700mm wheelbase. The front fascia has tri-slash LED DRLs, edgy headlamps, and an upright nose. The profile reveals a sporty silhouette and C-pillar-mounted door handles. The charging port is placed on the rear fender, in the same spot as a traditional fuel tank. The LED tail lamps follow the tri-slash design language as well.

Inside, the e Vitara rocks a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets premium features like a panoramic sunroof, an Infinity audio system by Harmon, automatic climate control, a 10-way adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seating, ambient lighting with multiple colour zones, wireless charging, and an air purifier. There are 4 drive modes on board – Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow.

The electric SUV was recently awarded a 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP. Its safety features include 7 airbags, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a blind spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with auto-hold, a 360-degree camera, and an Acoustic Vehicle Alarm System (AVAS). There is a Level 2 ADAS suite on offer in the higher variants.

There are 2 battery packs on offer – 49kWh and 61kWh. The entry-level Delta variant comes with the 49kWh battery pack, while the mid and top-spec trims get the larger battery. Maruti has confirmed that the 61kWh has a 543km driving range. Both battery packs can operate within a -30°C – 60°C temperature range. The front-mounted electric motor produces a maximum power output of 143hp on the 49kWh variants and 173hp on the larger battery variants.

Maruti has announced that it has established over 2,000 charging points in over 1,100 cities across India. On top of that, the automaker has partnered with 13 Charging Point Operators (CPOs). By 2030, it plans to expand the network to over 1 lakh charging points. As of now, over 1,500 Maruti service workshops are EV-ready, with a 1.50 lakh-strong EV-ready workforce.

Final Thoughts

As mentioned earlier, the booking window for the e Vitara will open later this month. Its pricing will be revealed in January 2026. Upon launch, it will rival the Hyundai Creta Electric, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, Tata Nexon EV, and MG Windsor EV in India.
