Maruti Suzuki Baleno awarded a 4-star safety rating by BNCAP

Maruti Suzuki Baleno has scored 4 stars in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. It is the first hatchback to be tested by the car assessment program. The Dzire sedan, which was tested alongside the Baleno, received a 5-star rating from the testing body. The Grand Vitara and Brezza SUVs will be the next Maruti Suzuki cars to be crash tested by Bharat NCAP.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno: BNCAP results explained

In the Adult Occupant Protection test, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno scored 24/04 points out of a possible 32. In the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test, the hatchback showed good protection to the driver’s head and neck, adequate protection to their legs and feet, and marginal protection to their chest, pelvis, and thighs. Meanwhile, the protection shown to the passenger’s head and neck was good, with adequate protection shown to their chest, pelvis, thighs, legs, and feet. In the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test, the hatchback offered good protection to the driver’s pelvis, adequate protection to their head, and marginal protection to their chest. All parts of the driver’s body showed good protection in the Side Pole Impact Test.

In the Child Occupant Protection test, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno scored 34.81 points out of a possible 49. The hatchback’s child restraint system was tested with crash dummies for 18-month-old and 3-year-old children. The hatchback received a Dynamic score of 16.81 points out of 24, a CRS installation score of 12 points out of 12, and a Vehicle assessment score of 6 points out of 13.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is loaded with safety features like 6 airbags (front, side, and curtain), Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, a 360-degree camera, auto IVRM, speed-sensitive auto door locking, 3-point seat belts for all passengers, high-speed warning alert, seat-belt reminder lamp & buzzer for all passengers, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, reverse parking camera, and more.

Final Thoughts

As mentioned earlier, the Grand Vitara and Brezza SUVs will be the next Maruti Suzuki offerings to be crash tested by Bharat NCAP. Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Baleno start at Rs 6.70 lakh and go up to Rs 9.92 lakh in India. It rivals the likes of Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, and Honda Jazz.
