Mahindra has refreshed the Thar Roxx lineup with a new special edition model. Prices for the Mahindra Thar Roxx Star Edition start at Rs 16.85 lakh and go up to Rs 18.35 lakh. It is based on the top-spec AX7L trim of the lifestyle SUV and comes in petrol and diesel powertrains. It gets cosmetic upgrades, but no changes have been made to the instrumentation and powertrain.

The Star Edition gets 2 crucial cosmetic upgrades. The grille and alloy wheels get a piano black finish. The standard model has a body-coloured grille and a silver finish on its 19-inch alloys. The special edition gets ‘Star’ badging on its C pillar. It comes in a new Citrine Yellow paint shade. Other colour options include Stealth Black, Tango Red, and Everest White.
Inside, the Star Edition rocks an all-black look. The black leatherette upholstery has suede accents. Since it is based on the top-spec AX7L trim, the special edition is decked with premium features like twin 10.25-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 9-speaker audio system by Harmon Kardon, approach unlock and walk-away lock, a surround view camera, a panoramic sunroof, front ventilated seats, sliding armrest, 60:40 split rear seats with multipoint recline, automatic temperature control, and more.
On the safety front, the Mahindra Thar Roxx Star Edition packs 6 airbags (driver, passenger, side, and curtain), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), parking sensors (front and rear), rear parking camera, auto-dimming IRVM, impact sensing auto door unlock, immobiliser, e-call & SOS, and more.
The Star Edition comes in petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 174hp and 380Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 2.2-litre diesel engine puts out 172hp and 370Nm. These engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. However, the Star Edition does not get a manual transmission for the turbo-petrol engine.

Prices for the standard Mahindra Thar Roxx start at Rs 12.39 lakh and go up to Rs 22.25 lakh. The lifestyle SUV could be refreshed with a 1.5-litre diesel powertrain soon. It rivals the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Jeep Gurkha in India.
