Next-gen Kia Seltos teased for the first time, debuts on December 10

The 2nd-gen Kia Seltos is set to make its debut on December 10. Ahead of the showcase, Kia has started the promotional campaign for the SUV. The first teaser video for the Seltos was dropped today. It gives a glimpse of the front fascia and the panoramic sunroof. The SUV has been spotted testing on multiple occasions this year. Let’s take a look at what you can expect from the 2nd-gen model.

2nd-gen Kia Seltos: What to expect from the new model?

The teaser video confirms Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Face’ grille for the Seltos. This design is a common fixture in premium Kia offerings like the Carnival MPV. On the Seltos, this grille gets plenty of chrome accents. It is flanked on either side by vertical LED DRLs. The C-shaped LED headlamps are integrated into the grille.

The teaser material also consists of images that reveal the profile of the SUV. While there’s not much information in these snapshots to make out the silhouette, they do confirm flush-sitting door handles, blacked-out pillars and roof rails, new alloy wheels, and muscular body cladding. At the back, the new Seltos seems to have the same taillamp and light bar setup as the Kia Carens Clavis.

No details have been revealed about the Seltos’ interior so far. We expect it to rock a Trinity panoramic display – similar to the one on Kia Syros. The latter comprises a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 4-inch display for climate control. The Seltos will also rock wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A Level 2 ADAS package with up to 17 safety features is also expected to make the cut.

Things will remain the same under the hood as the 2nd-gen Seltos will continue to be offered in 3 engine options. On the current model, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine puts out 160hp. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre diesel engine produces a maximum power output of 116hp and 250Nm of torque. Kia may also add a hybrid powertrain for the Seltos a few months after its launch.
