Honda Amaze prices to be hiked in April

As automakers tune their engines to be RDE-compliant, car prices are also getting a small hike. The latest in this trend is the Honda Amaze, which will see a price hike of Rs 12,000 next month. The carmaker announced that the reason behind the price hike is the input costs for updating the engine to comply with the latest emission norms.

Honda Amaze: Updated engine, new prices

Honda Amaze retains its 1.2-litre iVTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine is now tuned to comply with BS6 Phase II norms. It can produce a maximum power output of 89hp and 110Nm peak torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.

Honda discontinued the diesel powertrain for the Amaze last year. The automaker cited the stringent emission norms as the reason behind ditching the engine. This 1.5-litre iDTEC diesel engine was capable of producing a peak power output of 100hp and 200Nm peak torque. Apart from a 5-speed manual, the diesel engine was also offered with a CVT gearbox, making it the only diesel automatic offering in its segment. In an automatic configuration, this diesel engine produced a maximum power output of 80hp and 160Nm peak torque.

More recently, Tata Motors announced a price hike of 5% across its portfolio of cars. Tata Motors made it clear that the price hike is a result of the automaker’s efforts to comply with the more stringent emission norms. Apart from being compliant with the emission norms, the new engines have also been tuned to offer better performance and efficiency.

Conclusion

The Honda Amaze price hike will depend on the variant, but it will generally be around Rs 12,000. Honda recently facelifted the City and brought it up to the standard of its rivals. Honda Amaze was last updated in 2021 and rivals the likes of Hyundai Aura and Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
