Mahindra Thar gets a new Deep Forest colour option

Key Highlights

  • Mahindra Thar is now available in a Desert Forest paint shade.
  • This paint shade is also available for the Scorpio N and XUV 3XO.
  • Prices for the Thar start at Rs 11.35 lakh.

Mahindra and Mahindra has added a new ‘Deep Forest’ colour option to the Thar SUV’s lineup in India. This takes the total number of paint shades available for the Thar to six – Red Rage, Deep Grey, Deep Forest, Stealth Black, Everest White, and Desert Fury. The ‘Desert Fury’ matte paint shade was introduced on the ‘Earth Edition’ of the Thar back in February 2024.

Mahindra Thar: New colour variant

The Deep Forest paint shade is not a new addition to Mahindra’s catalogue. The automaker offers the paint shade with Scorpio N and the newly launched XUV 3XO. The Mahindra Thar is the latest SUV to get this colour option. The Deep Forest paint shade is available on regular variants of the Thar. This means the SUV does not get body-coloured accents on the grille and OVRMs like the Desert Fury paint shade on the Earth Edition.

There are no changes inside the SUV as well. The lifestyle SUV gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 6-speaker sound system, manual air conditioning, cruise control, and more. Safety features include dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, Electronic Stability Programme, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and more. Meanwhile, the recently introduced Earth Edition of the SUV gets special highlights throughout the dashboard and a special identification plate with the unit number on it.

Mahindra Thar is available with three engine options under the hood – 2.0-litre petrol, 2.2-litre diesel, and 1.5-litre diesel. The 2.0-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 152hp and 300Nm of torque. The diesel engine puts out 132hp and 300Nm. Both engines can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV is available in AWD and RWD configurations. The RWD model is powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine which produces a maximum power output of 116hp and 300Nm of torque. This engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Conclusion

Prices for the Mahindra Thar start at Rs 11.35 lakh and go up to Rs 17.60 lakh. Mahindra will launch the 5-door variant of the SUV at its Independence Day event in August this year. The 5-door Thar is currently in the final phase of on-road testing. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha.
