Citroen C3 Sport Edition launched in India at Rs 6.44 lakh

Citroen India has added a new special edition to the C3 hatchback lineup. Prices for the Citroen C3 Sport Edition start at Rs 6.44 lakh. It is available for all 3 variants of the hatchback – Live, Feel, and Shine. The special edition offers styling upgrades but remains mechanically unchanged. It demands a premium of Rs 21,000 over the variant that it’s based on. Buyers can also opt for a Tech Kit priced at Rs 15,000. The Sport Edition will be produced in limited numbers.

The special edition Citroen C3 gets sporty red and black decals on the bonnet, front bumper, and roof. The ‘Sport Edition’ branding can be found on the front doors. The bottom end of the rear doors has sporty red graphics. The special edition hatchback is available in a new Garnet Red paint shade.

Inside, the Citroen C3 Sport Edition gets ComfortPro seat covers with red highlights and ‘Sport’ branding. Other additions include race-ready pedals, RaceFit seatbelts, ambient lighting, and grip carpet mats. The Tech Kit, priced at Rs 15,000, comprises a dashcam and wireless charger.

Other features of the hatchback include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, keyless entry, tilt-adjustable steering, and steering-mounted controls. It is offered with 6 airbags across all variants.

Things remain the same under the hood, as the Citroen C3 Sport Edition carries forward the 2 powertrains from the regular model. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 82hp and 115Nm of torque. It is mated to a manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 190Nm of torque. This engine is available on the top-spec Shine trim only. It can be mated to a manual or automatic transmission.

Final Thoughts

The regular Citroen C3 range starts at Rs 6.23 lakh and goes up to Rs 10 lakh. The Sport Edition is not available in a CNG powertrain. The C3 has one of the most diverse powertrain options for a hatchback. It is available in petrol, turbo petrol, CNG, and all-electric avatars. The hatchback rivals the likes of Tata PunchMaruti Suzuki SwiftRenault KigerNissan Magnite, and Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
