Citroen C3 Aircross teaser reveal: What we know so far
Although this is the first teaser drop from Citroen, the C3 Aircross has been spotted testing on Indian roads multiple times. The SUV is based on the C3 hatchback which is also manufactured in India. This is the first time Citroen is introducing a crossover SUV for the hatchback in India. The C3 Aircross that will be exported out of India will be a second-generation SUV for the global markets.
Expect the Citroen C3 Aircross to share a lot of styling cues from its hatchback counterpart. While it is certainly an SUV in frame and structure, the C3 Aircross will share the split headlamp setup (as confirmed by the teaser drop) and wraparound tail lamps from its hatchback sibling. The SUV is expected to be 4.2 metres long.
Inside, the Citroen C3 Aircross will feature a new layout design, with very few commonalities with the C3 hatchback. The SUV will get a bigger touchscreen infotainment system and an extended feature list. Some rumours suggest that the C3 Aircross will get automatic climate control. A third seating row could also make an appearance on some variants.Â
Citroen’s midsize SUV will be underpinned by the CMP platform, the same as the C3 hatchback. The SUV will also share its powertrain with the hatchback. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 190Nm peak torque on Citroen C3. Gearbox options for the SUV are currently unknown. Citroen may also introduce an all-electric version of the C3 Aircross later this year.

ConclusionÂ
Since it shares its platform and powertrain with the C3 hatchback, the Citroen C3 Aircross could be priced very aggressively in its segment. The SUV is expected to be launched in the coming months. Upon launch, the Citroen C3 Aircross will rival Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
