BYD eMax 7: What to expect?

The ‘e’ in the MPV’s name signifies its all-electric powertrain. According to BYD, the ‘Max’ is an indicator of the model’s enhanced performance, range, and features. The ‘7’ indicates that it is the generational successor to the e6.

The BYD eMax 7 will receive a new design for the LED headlamps and DRLs. The front bumper will house sleek air intakes with chrome accents. Overall, the front fascia of the MPV will look similar to the Atto 3 SUV. The profile of the eMax 7 will remain unchanged. BYD may introduce a new design for the 17-inch alloy wheels. The design of the LED tail lamps at the back will mimic that of the DRLs up front.

Inside, the BYD eMax 7 will feature a 12.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system which is notably larger than the 10.1-inch unit on the current model. It will be available in six and seven-seat layouts. The current-gen e6 is available in a 5-seat layout only. The seats will be draped in leatherette upholstery. The MPV will also receive two new wireless charging pads along with new switchgear and a new drive selector. Other features will include cruise control, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and more.

Internationally, the BYD eMax 7 MPV is available in two battery pack options – 55.4kWh and 71.8kWh. The former offers a driving range of up to 420km while the latter goes up to 530km on a full charge. The variants with the smaller battery pack produce a maximum power output of 163hp and 310Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the larger battery pack variants put out 204hp and 310Nm. The current-gen model generates 95hp and 180Nm. The e6 model sold in India is available with a 71.8kWh battery pack only. BYD will likely stick with this battery pack on the eMax 7.

Mr Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles(EPV) Business at BYD India said, “BYD personifies sustainable luxury, and it is our constant endeavour to evolve and offer best-in-class technology and features to our customers. The BYD eMAX 7 is a testament to our efforts, which are designed after careful study of the market and feedback from the existing customers. It is a forward-thinking vehicle ideal for consumers who prioritise both sustainable luxury and practicality. The BYD eMAX 7 is a perfect fit for families seeking eco-friendly solutions without compromising on style and performance.”
