BMW India has opened the bookings for the BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase ahead of its launch. Buyers can book their units from the BMW Online Shop or a BMW-authorised dealership. The 5 Series LWB will assembled in India at BMW’s facility near Chennai. India is the first overseas market to get the BMW 5 Series LWB in a right-hand drive configuration. The sedan will be officially launched on 24 July 2024.

The BMW 5 Series LWB stands at dimensions of 5,175mm x 1,900mm x 1,520mm. Its wheelbase of 3,105mm is 110mm longer than the regular model. The sedan is 212mm longer, 32mm wider, and 41mm higher than the outgoing model.
There are no differences in design between the LWB and Standard versions of the BMW 5 Series. Both sedans sport the iconic BMW kidney grille, big air intakes on the bumper, sharp LED headlamps, and wraparound LED tail lamps. The India-spec version of the luxury sedan gets 18-inch alloy wheels. The overall design language of the BMW 5 Series looks inspired by the 7 Series.
Inside, the BMW 5 Series has a large curved display unit comprising a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system is equipped with the latest iDrive 8.5 OS. The sedan also rocks an 18-speaker, 655W B&W sound system, two rear entertainment screens, wireless charging, an ADAS package, and more.
Announcing the pre-launch bookings, BMW said, “The all-new BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase represents outstanding technological expertise and a progressive attitude. Sporty elegance, groundbreaking technology and luxurious space at the rear are all combined in the all-new BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase. Adapted in numerous details to the specific requirements of Indian target groups, this all-new business sedan features an extended wheelbase and distinctive proportions. This results in a particularly generous space and comfort in the rear, which is further enhanced by exclusive equipment features.”

The prices and powertrain details for the BMW 5 Series LWB will be revealed at its launch event on July 24, 2024. The LWB version will be made available in two paint shades – Sparkling Copper Grey and Carbon Metallic Black. The luxury sedan will rival the Mercedes E Class upon launch.
