BMW M2 launched in India at Rs 1.03 crore

BMW India has launched the new M2 coupe at a starting price of Rs 1.03 crore. The sports car will be imported to India via the Completely Built-Up (CBU) route. The 2024 BMW M2 produces a better output than its predecessor and gets new design accents for the exterior and interior. It also rocks the new BMW Operating System 8.5. The automaker has introduced new colour schemes for the sports coupe as well.

2024 BMW M2: What’s new?

The 2024 BMW M2 is available in 6 metallic colours (Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire, Fire Red, Portimao Blue, Sao Paulo Yellow and Skyscraper Grey) and 2 non-metallic paint schemes (Alpine White and M Zandvoort Blue). The coupe’s design remains unchanged but it gets new highlights like black exhaust tailpipes and a black M2 logo with a silver surround.

Key changes come under the hood, as the new BMW M2 features a more powerful version of the 3.0-litre turbocharged engine. It now produces a maximum power output of 480hp (an improvement of 20hp) and 600Nm of torque (an improvement of 50Nm). It is available in 8-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmission options. The former can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4 seconds, while the latter takes 4.2 seconds to accomplish the same feat.

Inside, the new BMW M2 features a flat-bottom steering wheel with an Alcantara finish. There are multiple colour options for the upholstery. The coupe features a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. As mentioned earlier, the M2 runs the new BMW Operating System 8.5. The new OS offers touch, gesture, and speech controls for the infotainment system.

Safety features on the coupe include head and side airbags for the driver and passenger, and head airbags for the rear passengers as standard. It also packs Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), M Dynamic Mode (MDM), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dry Braking function and Active M Differential. There is an ADAS package onboard as well.

Conclusion

Bookings for the 2024 BMW M2 are now open. The sports coupe rivals the Porsche 718 Cayman, Mercedes-AMG A 45 S hatchback, and Alpine A110 in India.
