Tata Sierra is now available in an all-black avatar. Tata Motors has refreshed the SUV with its signature Dark Edition. The special edition model is available from the Pure L trim of the Sierra and extends to the Accomplished+ trim. Its prices start at Rs 13.99 lakh and go up to Rs 21.59 lakh. Including the recently launched Legend series, the Sierra range now comprises 65 variants.

The Tata Sierra Dark Edition dons the ‘Friesian Black’ paint shade. The chrome bits on its exterior have been blacked out. The alloy wheels have a darker shade. This all-black treatment extends to the emblems. Since this is a special edition model, it gets the exclusive ‘Dark’ badging on its front fenders.
Inside, the black cabin is accentuated by violet metallic trims on the front armrests, door handles, front seatbacks, and AC vents. The seats have purple stitching as well. No changes have been made to the feature set. You have 6 trims to choose from. Depending on the trim, you can get features like the panoramic display setup, 12-speaker JBL sound system, ventilated seating, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, wireless charging, Level 2 ADAS, and more.
No changes have been made under the hood either. The Dark Editions of the Sierra are available in 3 engine options. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, TGDI ‘Hyperion’ petrol engine is available only with the top three trims. It produces a maximum power output of 158hp and 255Nm torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated ‘Revotron’ petrol engine is available with all trims except the top-spec Accomplished+. It generates a maximum power output of 105hp and 145Nm torque. This engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Lastly, the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, ‘Kryojet’ diesel engine is available with all seven trims of the SUV. It generates a maximum power output of 116hp. With a 6-speed manual transmission, it produces 260Nm of torque. This output increases to 280Nm when the engine is linked to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Sierra has enjoyed massive popularity in India ever since its launch. The SUV crossed the 50,000 sales landmark less than 7 months after its launch. It currently rivals the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Hector in India.
