Volvo EX90: What’s on offer?
The Volvo EX90 stands at dimensions of 5,037mm x 1,964mm x 1,744mm, and has a 2,985mm wheelbase. Dimensionally, it is similar to its ICE counterpart, the XC90, but deviates from it in design. The front fascia of the electric SUV is highlighted by Volvo’s signature ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED DRLs. A vertically aligned pair of LED lighting strips sits just below these DRLs. The grille has been completely closed off. The bumper has a small air dam.
Along the sides, the EV has minimal body cladding, but a prominent shoulder line. It gets 20-inch alloy wheels as standard. Buyers can opt for 21- and 22-inch wheels as well. Volvo claims a drag coefficient of 0.29Cd on this SUV. At the back, the EX90 gets C-shaped tail lamps. A pair of vertical lighting elements, similar to the strips up front, flank each side of the rear windshield.Â
Inside, the EX90 is decked with premium features. It flaunts a 14.5-inch vertically aligned central touchscreen infotainment system, a 9-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 13.2-inch Heads-Up Display (HUD). There’s wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity on board. Other features include a four-zone climate control system, powered front seats, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, Vehicle to Load (V2L) charging, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, and more. The SUV has been rated 5 stars for safety by the Euro and Global NCAPs.
The Volvo EX90 is underpinned by an 800V architecture. There are 2 battery pack options on offer – 92kWh and 106kWh. The former is powered by a rear-mounted single motor, while the latter uses a dual-motor setup. The rear-mounted motor generates a maximum power output of 333hp and 480Nm. It can go from 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds. On a full charge, it offers a driving range of 565km.
Meanwhile, the 106kWh variant, powered by a dual-motor setup, puts out 456hp and 670Nm, offering a 608km driving range. These numbers are boosted to 680hp and 870Nm in the top-spec Performance variant. This variant can go from 0-100km/h in just 4 seconds and offers a driving range of 602km. The 800V architecture enables faster charging speeds. A 350kW DC fast charger can take the EV from 10% to 100% charge in just 22 minutes.
