Skoda Kushaq and Slavia: Vietnam launch this summer
The assembly process for the Vietnam-spec Skoda Kushaq and Slavia began on March 26, 2025. The two cars are expected to launch in the country this summer. The newly built assembly plant features cutting-edge technology for the manufacturing and production process. This includes contactless 3D measurement, four-layer paint application, and an anti-corrosion wax treatment for body cavities. The assembly line houses a paint shop and a welding shop. The site also has a quality control centre, a precision measurement facility, and a nearly two-kilometre-long test track.
All models rolled out of the assembly plant are tested under real-world conditions before the production process is greenlit. The Skoda Kushaq has been road-tested for more than 330,000km in Vietnam. The test mules have undergone rigorous climate testing, including trials in temperatures ranging from -10 °C to +42 °C with high humidity.
Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, said, “The new state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities fully reflect Škoda’s high manufacturing benchmarks. The plant is located in Quang Ninh province, close to the port of Haiphong – one of Vietnam’s largest and most modern ports. This ensures the swift delivery of CKD kits from our logistics hub in Pune, India, while also strengthening the synergies that are vital to Škoda’s success in Vietnam and the wider region.”
The India-spec Skoda Kushaq and Slavia are available in 2 powertrain options. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power of 115hp and 175Nm peak torque. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 150hp and 250Nm peak torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
