2027 Hyundai Tucson details revealed

The 2027 Hyundai Tucson broke cover last month. The automaker has now shared some of the technical details regarding the SUV. The next-gen Tucson is set to go on sale in South Korea next month. Its previous-generation version was discontinued in India in November 2025. The new model will likely be re-launched next year, but there is no official word from Hyundai yet.

2027 Hyundai Tucson: What’s new?

The next-gen Tucson stands at dimensions of 4,700mm x 1,905mm x 1,685mm and has a 2,785mm wheelbase. This makes it 60mm longer and 40mm wider than the outgoing model, while maintaining the same height. The wheelbase is larger by 30mm. The headroom for rear passengers has gone up by 29mm, and the rear doors can open up to 83 degrees, which is a 10-degree improvement over the previous-generation model.

The underbody structure supporting the rear suspension and the mounting points for the front suspension have been strengthened as well. The hybrid model gets ‘E-Traction’ which uses a drive motor to control the body movements of the SUV. Even though the new model has larger dimensions, its body roll has not taken a hit, even while cornering at high speeds. The drag coefficient of the 2027 model has gone down from 0.33 to 0.30, thanks to the new 17-inch alloy wheel design, active air flaps, roof spoiler, and rear bumper spoiler.

In terms of features, the 2027 Hyundai Tucson gets a large portrait-style central touchscreen display. It is equipped with Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect system. The driver’s section has a sleek digital instrument panel and a D-cut steering wheel. The dashboard has a floating design. The new memory-based reverse assist function can retrace the SUV’s path. There are 3 dual-tone colour themes on offer – Mud Grey & Dove Grey, Black & Sand Beige, and Black & Inlay Soil Brown.

The next-gen Hyundai Tucson comes in 2 engine options. The 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 193hp and 265Nm of torque. It can be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the previous model, this engine used to put out 180hp. The hybrid version of the SUV pairs this engine with a next-gen hybrid system. It produces a combined power output of 245hp and has a mileage of 17.4km/l. There’s an ‘Inertial Driving Guidance’ feature that lets the driver know when to take their foot off the accelerator pedal to maximise the mileage.

Final Thoughts

Hyundai has also introduced 5 new paint shades for the new Tucson – Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Grey Matte, Driftwood Grey Metallic, Red Rock Orange Matte, and Goyo Copper Pearl. As mentioned earlier, its launch status in India is currently unknown. If it lands in the market, it will rival the Citroën C5 Aircross, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Jeep Compass.
