Volkswagen Virtus gets an Anniversary Edition priced at Rs 19.20 lakh

Volkswagen Virtus has completed 4 years in India. To celebrate the occasion, the automaker has added a special ‘Anniversary Edition’ to the sedan’s lineup. This special edition model is based on the top-spec GT Sport trim of the Virtus. It is priced at Rs 19.20 lakh, which is the same as the underlying trim. The special edition model comes with handy add-ons.

Volkswagen Virtus Anniversary Edition: What’s new?

The Anniversary Edition of Volkswagen Virtus comes in a new and exclusive ‘Avocado Pearl’ colour. It gets a black finish on the roof rails, alloy wheels, and boot-lip spoiler. The brake callipers are finished in red. Other than the new paint shade, no changes have been made to the exterior of the sedan.

Inside, the Anniversary Edition gets premium add-ons like puddle lamps, a 360-degree camera, and front parking sensors. Buyers can get these accessories on the Taigun SUV as well. Since the special edition model is based on the top-spec GT Sport trim, it flaunts a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-inch digital driver’s display. There is wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity on board.

Other features include ventilated front seating, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, paddle shifters, a powered sunroof, an 8-speaker audio system, and more. On the safety front, the sedan rocks 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ABS with EBD, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Traction Control (TC), and over 40 advanced safety features. The Virtus has been rated 5 stars for safety by the Global NCAP.

No changes have been made under the hood of the Volkswagen Virtus. The Anniversary Edition is powered by the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. It generates a maximum power output of 148hp and 250Nm of torque. This engine can be linked to a 7-speed DCG. It offers a mileage of 19.63km/l. Other variants of the Virtus are also available with a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine. This engine puts out 113hp and 175Nm, and can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Final Thoughts

The Virtus is long overdue a facelift. Test mules of the updated model have been spotted testing on Indian roads on multiple occasions this year. The current-gen lineup is priced between Rs 10.71 lakh and Rs 19.20 lakh. It rivals the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Skoda Slavia in India.
