Skoda India has taken the wraps off the new Slavia. The facelifted version of Skoda Slavia can be pre-booked for a token amount of Rs 15,000. The new model gets several cosmetic tweaks and feature additions. It also gets a new AT option for its 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. Skoda will announce the prices for the sedan in October. It is expected to reach customers in the festive season.

The Slavia facelift retains the locally developed MQB-A0-IN of its predecessor. It has the same dimensions as the outgoing model. The front fascia gets a new look with updated LED headlamps, segmented LED DRLs, a front grille with vertical slats and integrated lighting elements, and an air dam. The profile of the sedan remains unchanged, apart from a new design for the alloy wheels. At the back, the tail lamp design has been updated. The new lighting elements are connected by a smooth trim with ‘SKODA’ lettering on top.
Inside, the new Slavia gets a slightly larger 10.1-inch display for the touchscreen infotainment system. A significantly larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster replaces the 8-inch unit on the outgoing model. There’s wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity on board. The rear seats get a massage function, similar to the one on the Skoda Kushaq facelift that was launched earlier this year. The sedan misses out on a panoramic sunroof as it continues to employ a single-pane unit. ADAS is notably absent too.
Things remain the same under the hood, as the Slavia facelift continues to come in 2 engine options. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power of 115hp and 175Nm peak torque. This engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a new 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 150hp and 250Nm peak torque. Transmission options for this engine include a six-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
Klaus Zellmer, CEO, Škoda Auto, said, “India remains one of our most important global growth markets and a great example of what Škoda Auto can achieve when we listen closely to our customers. The new Slavia builds on this approach. It strengthens a model that has become a real success story, earning the trust of customers and establishing itself as one of the best-selling saloons in its segment. This success belongs to our teams, our dealer partners and, above all, our customers. Together, we have built strong momentum. With a clear strategy and a strong local presence, I am confident that we are writing the next chapter of our growth story in India.”

Skoda has also added 2 new colour options for the Slavia facelift – Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige. Deliveries for the latter will commence in December. As mentioned earlier, the prices for the sedan will be announced in October. The outgoing model is priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh. The facelift will demand a small premium over these prices. It will rival the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Honda City in India.
