The Mercedes-AMG G 63 lineup has been updated with an ‘Offroad Pro’ model. The new variant will be produced in limited numbers. It is priced at Rs 3.80 crore, fetching Rs 6 lakh more than the standard model. It gets some hardware upgrades, a more rugged visual character, and cosmetic tweaks, but remains unchanged under the hood.

The G 63 Offroad Pro gets a roof luggage rack with continuous aluminium panels. The removable rear ladder makes the storage area completely accessible. Along the sides, the SUV rocks new 20-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels finished in matte black with a diamond-turned rim flange equipped with 275/50 R20 tyres.
The Active Ride Control suspension from AMG is one of the big additions on the Offroad Pro. It supplements the standard Ride Control suspension with active roll stabilisation, allowing high drive stability and greater axle articulation while off-roading. Additionally, it makes bumpy terrain more comfortable to ride on. In off-road drive programs, drivers can adjust the roll stiffness of the new suspension system in 3 stages. The Traction Pro mode offers maximum traction in Rock and Sand drive programs.
Inside, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro features twin 12.3-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. The latter runs the MBUX NTG7 OS. There’s wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity on board. The MBUX Augmented Reality system superimposes graphical navigation information onto live images. Other features include an 18-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system, Nappa leather upholstery, and ambient lighting.
No changes have been made under the hood of the Offroad Pro edition, as it retains the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine powering the standard model. This engine generates a maximum power output of 585hp and 850Nm of torque. Mated to this engine is a 48V mild-hybrid system that adds 22hp to the power output. The SUV is equipped with an All Wheel Drive (AWD). It can go from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds. The top speed is capped at 240km/h.

As mentioned earlier, the G 63 Offroad Pro will be produced in limited numbers. The luxury-offroader rivals the Land Rover Defender Octa, Toyota Land Cruiser 300, and Range Rover Sport in India.
