Maruti Suzuki Victoris awarded a 5-star safety rating by Global NCAP

Maruti Suzuki Victoris has secured a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. It is the second car from the automaker after the Dzire to attain all 5 stars. Maruti’s new midsize SUV was awarded a 5-star rating by the Bharat NCAP earlier this month. It was launched in India today at a starting price of Rs 10.50 lakh. It comes in 6 trim levels.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: GNCAP crash test results explained

In the Adult Occupant Protection test, the Victoris SUV scored 33.72 points out of a possible 34. In the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier test, the driver’s head, neck, thighs, feet, and left leg showed good protection. Meanwhile, the protection offered to the chest and right leg was adequate. The passenger’s head, neck, chest, thighs, legs, and feet showed good protection. The head, abdomen, and pelvis showed good protection in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier test, while the protection offered to the chest was adequate. In the Side Pole Impact test, all parts showed good protection.

In the Child Occupant Protection test, the Victoris SUV scored 41 points out of a possible 49. The child seats for 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were installed rearward facing using the ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg. It offered full protection upon frontal impact. The SUV offered good protection upon side impact as well. It garnered a Dynamic score of 23 points, a CRS installation score of 12 points, and a Vehicle assessment score of 5 points.

It continues the trend set by the Dzire launched last year which also achieved five stars. We warmly welcome Maruti Suzuki’s engagement with the requirements of Global NCAP’s new protocols. The result is a significant vehicle safety victory for motoring consumers in India.”

The Victoris SUV offers 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Hill Hold Control, Reverse Parking Sensors, 3-Point seat belts, and seat belt reminder as standard safety features across all variants. The higher variants are available with premium safety features like all-wheel disc brakes, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, rear parking sensors, electronic parking brake, and more.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the Victoris start at Rs 10.50 lakh and go up to Rs 19.99 lakh. Buyers can book their model for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The SUV rivals the Hyundai CretaKia SeltosCitroen AircrossMG Astor, and other midsize and compact SUVs.
