ZX variants of Honda Amaze in highest demand, garner 60% of bookings

Honda Car India launched the next-gen Amaze in India earlier this month. The 3rd-gen Honda Amaze is priced at Rs 8 lakh and is currently available for bookings. Since its launch, the top-spec X variant of the sedan has garnered the most interest from buyers. So far, 60% of all bookings for the Amaze have been for the ZX variant. Honda will begin the delivery rollout of the sedan by the end of December.

3rd-gen Honda Amaze: Shaking things up

The top-spec ZX variant of the Honda Amaze is priced at Rs 9.70 lakh. Its automatic version fetches Rs 10.90 lakh. The sedan is decked with features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, and a multi-function steering wheel.

Other features include a push start/stop button, rear seat armrests, rear AC vents, wireless charging, connected car tech, and more. On the safety front, the sedan gets 6 airbags, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, a lane watch camera, traction control, hill start assist, and more. There is also a Honda Sensing ADAS package on board. The only major losses on the Honda Amaze are the lack of an electric sunroof and a 360-degree camera.

Under the hood, the Honda Amaze packs a 1.2-litre iVTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 89hp and 110Nm peak torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The manual variant has a fuel efficiency of 18.65kmpl while the CVT variant offers a mileage of 19.46kmpl.

As far as design goes, Honda has done a stellar job on the 3rd-gen Amaze. The front fascia of the sedan is inspired by Honda Elevate and City. The grille, LED headlamps, and DRLs on the Amaze are identical to the Elevate, albeit a little smaller to fit the form factor of the sedan. The central air intake and fog lamp housings are inspired by the City sedan.

The profile of the sedan has also undergone a few changes. The wing mirrors have been moved from the pillars to the doors. The 15-inch alloy wheels rock a new dual-tone design. A bold character line runs along the sides of the sedan. The design of the LED tail lamps at the back of the sedan is inspired by the units in Honda City.

Conclusion

Honda Amaze is available in 3 variants – V, VX, and ZX. All three variants are available in manual and automatic transmissions. Some Honda dealerships are offering the Amaze with a retrofitted CNG kit as well. In India, the compact sedan rivals the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor.
