Toyota Rumion gets 6 airbags as standard

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has updated its compact MPV, Rumion, with 6 airbags across all variants. Previously, the S and G trims of the Toyota Rumion came with 2 airbags, while the top-spec V trim was equipped with 4 airbags. Despite the safety upgrade, the price of the MPV has gone down by Rs 49,000 due to the new GST 2.0 structure.

The Toyota Rumion now comes with dual front airbags, two side airbags, and two curtain shield airbags as standard across all of its variants. Additionally, the top-spec V variant has been updated with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). This feature continuously monitors tyre pressure for enhanced safety, fuel efficiency, and convenience.

Other features of the MPV include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, connected car tech, a digital MID and an analogue instrument cluster, an automatic AC unit, four airbags, and ESC. The Toyota i-Connect app unlocks features like smartwatch connectivity, voice assistant support, remote lock/unlock, climate control, and safety alerts. The Rumion can house 7 people. It has a 60:40 split layout for the 2nd row seats and reclining 3rd row seats.

Things remain the same under the hood as the Rumion MPV continues to be powered by the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 103hp and 137Nm of torque. It can be paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. In a CNG guise, the MPV generates a maximum power output of 88hp and 121.5Nm of torque. It has a fuel efficiency of 26.11 km/kg. The petrol variant offers a mileage of 20.51 km/l.

Final Thoughts

Other Toyota offerings have also received significant price cuts due to the new GST 2.0 structure. The Rumion is one of the most affordable MPVs in the country and rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki ErtigaMaruti Suzuki XL6, and Kia Carens.
