Tata Sierra EV to launch by June 2026

The Tata Sierra EV will reportedly go on sale in the second quarter of 2026. This puts its launch timeline between April and June. The all-electric SUV was teased for the first time last year when Tata Motors rolled out the promotional campaign for the ICE model. Both models will be manufactured at the automaker’s factory in Sanand, Gujarat. The Sierra EV will sit below the Harrier EV in Tata’s portfolio.

Tata Sierra EV: What to expect?

The Sierra EV will follow the design language of its ICE sibling. The two SUVs will have the same dimensions. The all-electric model will get some EV-exclusive cosmetic tweaks like a shut-off grille, a cutout for the charging port, and special branding. Tata could tweak its front bumper and give it a more pronounced LED light bar. At the back, the LED tail lamps will be connected by a light bar as well.

Inside, the Tata Sierra EV will rock the same layout as the ICE model. Its dashboard will be equipped with a 3-screen setup for the digital instrument cluster and the central and passenger-side touchscreens. Each screen will measure 12.3 inches. Other features will include a Head Up Display, a 12-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos, a 6-way powered driver’s seat with memory function, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, birthday celebration mode, relax mode, and more.

The Sierra EV will be offered with RWD and AWD configurations. So far, its driving range and power output specs are unknown. It may borrow its battery packs from the Harrier EV, which comes in 65kWh and 75kWh options. The 75kWh battery pack offers 622km MIDC-certified range. Tata’s in-house C75 drive cycle test places its range between 480-505km. Meanwhile, the 65kWh has an ARAI-certified range of 538km and C75-tested range between 420-445km. The RWD variants of the EV are powered by a single, rear-axle-mounted electric motor. This motor generates a maximum power output of 238hp and 315Nm of torque. The AWD variants put out 390hp and 594Nm.

Meanwhile, the ICE Sierra comes in 3 powertrain options. Its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated ‘Revotron’ petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 105hp and 145Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre TGDI ‘Hyperion’ petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 158hp and 255Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Lastly, the 1.5-litre ‘Kryojet’ diesel engine puts out 116hp. With a 6-speed manual transmission, it produces 260Nm torque. This output increases to 280Nm when the engine is linked to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Final Thoughts

Tata will begin the promotional campaign for the Sierra EV in April. The electric SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads multiple times. We expect its prices to start at Rs 17 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, and VinFast VF6.
