Tata Punch facelift: What’s new?

The new Punch facelift takes design inspiration from its all-electric sibling. The two offerings have identical trapezoidal LED headlamps and sleek LED DRLs. However, the DRLs on the ICE model are not connected by a light bar. Instead, a sleek and polished trim runs between them. This trim houses the Tata badge in the middle. The front bumper of the ICE model is finished in black, instead of being body coloured like its EV counterpart. It holds a wide air dam surrounded by a silver frame. Right above this dam lie two central air intake vents.

No big changes have been made along the sides. The compact SUV maintains its boxy profile. The alloy wheels get a fresh look on the facelift. At the back, the LED tail lamps sport a new design. These tail lamps are connected by a sleek light bar. The rear bumper has also received a few tweaks. The ‘PUNCH’ lettering can be found on the tailgate, right below the Tata badging.

Inside, the Tata Punch facelift shares its layout with the Tata Nexon. It features a 10.23-inch free-floating touchscreen infotainment system and a new digital instrument cluster. There’s support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The two-spoke steering wheel is integrated with quick control buttons. The cabin also features a touch-sensitive panel for climate control. A closer look at the exterior visuals confirms the presence of a 36-degree camera system. Tata will confirm new features for the SUV as we get closer to launch.

The Tata Punch facelift will get a new turbo-petrol option under its hood. This 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit will be borrowed from the Tata Nexon, where it produces 120hp and 170Nm. The Punch will also carry forward the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine from the current model. This engine produces a maximum power output of 86hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be paired with a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. In a CNG guise, this engine puts out 73hp and 103Nm. The CNG model comes with a manual transmission only.
