Tata Punch EV updated with new colours and faster charging

Tata Punch EV was launched in India back in January 2024 at a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh. The automaker has updated the MY2025 version of the EV with new colour options for the exterior and faster charging. The charging speed upgrade is limited to the LR variant. Tata is also offering special Onam discounts for customers in Kerala.

Tata Punch EV 2025: What’s new?

The MY2025 Tata Punch EV is available in 2 new paint shades: Pure Grey and Supernova Copper. Buyers can also choose to have these exterior colours with a black roof as well. Other colour options for the compact electric SUV include Seaweed, Fearless Red, Empowered Oxide, Daytona Grey, and Pristine White. No other cosmetic changes have been made to the EV.

The LR variants of the Tata Punch EV are now compatible with faster charging. Using a 50W DC fast charger, the SUV can go from a 10% to an 80% charge in just 40 minutes. In just 15 minutes of DC fast charging, the SUV can accumulate enough charge to travel 90km. The LR trim packs a 35kWh battery pack while the Standard variants come with a 25kWh unit. The electric SUV comes with 3.3kW and 7.2kW home AC chargers.

Mechanically, the Tata Punch EV remains unchanged. The LR variants produce a maximum power output of 122hp and 190Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Standard variant puts out 82hp and 114Nm. The former can go from 0-100kmph in 9.5 seconds with the top speed capped at 140kmph. Meanwhile, the latter can accomplish the same feat in 13.5 seconds.

In terms of features, the electric SUV packs a 10.25-inch free-floating touchscreen infotainment system and another 10.25-inch display for the digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The two-spoke steering wheel has an illuminated Tata logo at the centre. Other features include automatic headlamps, wireless charging, auto-dimming IVRM, leatherette seating, an electric sunroof, an air purifier with an AQI display, and more. The steering wheel has paddle shifters, which enable the 4-level Multi-Mode Regeneration.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the Tata Punch EV start at Rs 9.99 lakh and go up to Rs 14.44 lakh. The electric SUV was crash tested by the Bharat NCAP last year and received a 5-star safety rating. It rivals the Citroen eC3, MG Comet EV, Mahindra XUV400 EV, and Tata Tiago EV.
