Tata Nexon EV gets a 45kWh battery pack, Red Hot Dark Edition added

Tata Motors has added a 45kWh battery pack option for the Nexon EV. Previously, the electric SUV was available in 30kWh and 40.5kWh battery pack options. Prices for the 45kWh battery-powered Tata Nexon EV start at Rs 13.99 lakh. It is available in 5 variants. The top-spec Empowered+ trim gets a new Red Hot Dark Edition, only for the 45kWh model. This special edition model gets some cosmetic updates over the regular trim.

Tata Nexon EV: What’s new?

Here is the price list for the new 45kWh Tata Nexon EV.

The Tata Nexon EV is now available in three battery pack options – 30kWh, 40.5kWh, and 45kWh. The 45kWh offers a driving range of 489km, which is 24km more than its 40.5kWh sibling. The C75 real-word range of the new battery pack is between 350 to 375 km. The new battery pack enables faster charging speeds at 1.2C rating. The power and torque specs for the SUV remain unchanged as it puts out 145hp and 215Nm like other LR variants.

The new Red Hot Dark Edition available with the top-spec Empowered+ variant of 45kWh Tata Nexon EV gets an all-black theme for the dashboard along with red upholstery, red stitching, and a Red Dark theme for the UI & UX on the infotainment system. It also gets a panoramic sunroof and a frunk. The exterior of the SUV flaunts a gloss black paint with red accents. The 16-inch wheels also get a gloss-black finish.

Launching the 45kWh Tata Nexon EV, Mr Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “With more than seven lakh vehicles sold in just seven years, the Nexon has created a distinct mark for itself amongst customers in India’s growing SUV market. Nexon’s popularity has steadily increased, driven by well-timed and innovative technological upgrades, and today’s new launches further enhances its appeal. These additions take forward Tata Motor’s successful multi powertrain strategy and ensure that there is indeed a Nexon for every need.

The introduction of the 45 kWh battery pack in the Nexon.ev will enable customers to enjoy hassle-free intercity travel and longer C75 near-real world range of 350–370 KM while enjoying familiar comforts and conveniences. Discerning customers seeking to make a statement or accustomed to preferring premium will find the Red #DARK edition experience more interesting.”

Tata Motors will continue to sell the 30kWh and 40.5kWh battery variants of the Nexon EV alongside the new 45kWh variants. The automaker also launched the Nexon CNG alongside the new EV model. The Tata Nexon EV rivals the Mahindra XUV400, MG Windsor, and Citroen eC3 in India.
