Skoda India is gearing up to launch its premium sedan, Octavia, in India. The facelifted version of the Skoda Octavia broke cover internationally last year. The automaker will launch the sedan in a single ‘RS’ variant in India. Its booking window will open on October 6. Skoda will import only 100 units via the CBU route. The price announcement will take place on October 17.

The Octavia RS features restyled front and rear bumpers and a new RS logo on the radiator grille. The grille is flanked on either side by 2nd-gen LED Matrix beam headlamps. The grille frame, side-window trim, wing mirror covers, roof rails, rear-bumper diffuser, and exhaust’s tailpipes are finished in black. The RS variant is available in an exclusive ‘Mamba Green’ paint shade.
Skoda will bring the UK model of the Octavia to Indian shores. This model is manufactured in the Czech Republic. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 265hp and 370Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. This gearbox transmits the power to all four wheels. The sedan can go from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds. Its top speed is capped at 250km/h.
In international markets, the Octavia sedan is available in 2 more engine options. Its 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 114hp. This engine can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. There’s also a 2.0-litre diesel engine on offer. It produces 113hp, but it can also be had in a 147hp version with a DSG automatic gearbox.
In terms of features, the Skoda Octavia will come with a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display. The infotainment system is equipped with the Chat GPT-powered, Skoda’s in-house digital assistant, ‘Laura’. The centre console has a special ‘Phone box’ section that keeps the devices cool and offers 15W wireless and 45W wired charging. The sedan has 10 airbags and an ADAS suite.

As mentioned earlier, the booking window for the Octavia RS will open on October 6, and the price announcement will take place on October 17. The delivery rollout will begin on November 6. We expect the sedan to fetch more than Rs 50 lakh. It will rival the Audi A4, Toyota Camry, BMW 2 Series, and other premium sedans.
