Prices for Toyota Fortuner hiked by up to Rs 68,000

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has hiked the prices for the Fortuner SUV by up to Rs 68,000. Prices for the Toyota Fortuner now start at Rs 36.05 lakh and go up to Rs 52.34 lakh for the top-spec variant. The price hike is applicable across diesel and petrol powertrains. The asking price of the Legender variants has also been increased.

The 2.8-litre diesel engine on the Toyota Fortuner generates a maximum power output of 201hp and 500Nm of torque. This engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. It is available in 2WD and 4WD configurations. The SUV can go from 0-100km/h in under 10 seconds. Meanwhile, the 2.7-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 164hp and 245Nm of torque. It can only be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The newly introduced mild-hybrid powertrain adds a 48V system to the 2.8-litre diesel engine. It features a belt-integrated starter generator and lithium-ion battery. This powertrain is available with an automatic transmission and AWD configuration only.

Toyota Fortuner is one of the most popular premium SUVs in India. It crossed the 3 lakh sales landmark back in May. The SUV rivals Skoda Kodiaq, Mercedes Benz GLA, BMW X1, and Citroen C5 Aircross in India.
