Next-gen Jeep Cherokee’s powertrain specs revealed

The next-gen Jeep Cherokee made its global debut in May 2025. Jeep has now revealed the output specs of the SUV’s new hybrid powertrain. The interior of the SUV, kept under the lid at the time of its debut, has been revealed as well. The Cherokee is underpinned by Stellantis’ new STLA platform. This platform is compatible with petrol, hybrid, and electric powertrains. The production of the SUV will take place at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico.

2026 Jeep Cherokee: Check out the powertrain numbers

Powering the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine that’s linked to a hybrid system comprising 2 electric motors. This system generates a maximum power output of 213hp and 312Nm of torque. The SUV can go up to over 800km on a full tank. Jeep has not revealed the individual output numbers of the petrol engine and electric motors. The Cherokee has a 4×4 configuration and offers 4 traction modes – Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand.

Inside, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee flaunts an all-black interior with a dual-tone dashboard. The Laredo, Limited, and Overland trims are available with white upholstery and door trims at a premium price. In terms of features, the SUV packs a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, rain-sensing wipers, a 360-degree camera, a dual-pane sunroof, a digital rearview mirror, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, Alexa connectivity, and more.

The Level 2 ADAS package consists of helpful features like Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist identification, Intersection Collision Assist, Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection, Drowsy Driver Detection, Active Driving Assist System, Rear Park Assist with Rear Automatic Emergency Braking, and more.

Final Thoughts

The top-spec Jeep Cherokee variants will begin arriving at dealerships later this year. The entry-level variants will be made available in early 2026. In the US, prices for the SUV start at $36,995 (~Rs 32.30 lakh) and go up to $45,995 (~Rs 40.15 lakh). It remains to be seen whether Jeep will launch the Cherokee in India. On the global stage, the SUV will rival the Volvo XC60BMW X3, and Audi Q5.
