Mahindra Thar Roxx: What to expect?

The Mahindra Thar Roxx will have a larger wheelbase than its 3-door variant. This means it gets bigger cabin space and a larger seating area along with two additional doors for the rear passengers. The major cosmetic changes on the Thar Roxx include a double-stacked six-slat grille, C-shaped DRLs, and projector headlamps. The SUV will rest on 18-inch alloys.

Inside, the Mahindra Thar Roxx will be packed with premium features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, push start/stop button, rear AC vents, centre and front seat armrests, sunroof, and more. Safety features on Thar Roxx will include six airbags, rear disc brakes, and a Level 2 ADAS package. There will be two seating rows on the SUV with a seating capacity of 5 people.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx will retain the 2 engine options from its 3-door counterpart – a 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre petrol engine. It will also come in a 2WD configuration like its 3-door counterpart. However, it won’t get the 1.5-litre diesel engine found in the entry-level variants of the 3-door Thar. The option of an automatic transmission will be reserved solely for 4×4 variants.

Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Sector, M&M Ltd., said, “The ‘Thar ROXX’ with its distinctive design, premium quotient, advanced technology, enhanced performance, sophistication, and safety is ‘THE’ SUV. While retaining the core attributes of the iconic Thar the ‘Thar ROXX’ represents the larger-than-life personality of a rockstar and will disrupt the SUV category.”
