Mahindra XUV700 facelift: What do the new spy shots suggest?

The new spy shots of the XUV700 SUV hint towards a slew of cosmetic updates. Its front fascia will feature a redesigned grille, bumper, and LED headlamps, along with C-shaped LED DRLs. It will take design inspiration from the Scorpio N. Along the sides, the SUV will feature a new design for its alloy wheels. The profile will remain unchanged. At the back, the design of the bumper and LED tail lamps will be tweaked slightly.

Inside, the XUV700 facelift will likely borrow the layout and design elements of the XEV 9e. This includes the triple-screen infotainment system and the steering wheel design. Other features will include a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, auto-dimming IVRMs, automatic climate control, wireless charging, connected car tech, and more. The facelifted model will also rock a Level 2 ADAS suite.

Things will remain unchanged under the hood. The XUV700 facelift will not receive any mechanical tweaks. It will continue to be offered in 2 engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 200hp and 380Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine is available in two tune levels. In entry-level variants, it generates a maximum power output of 155hp and 360Nm of torque. In top-spec variants, it puts out 185hp and 420Nm. Paired with an automatic transmission, the torque output jumps to 450Nm. Both engines can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The facelifted version of the 3-door Thar was also spotted testing recently. The new model of the lifestyle SUV will take design inspiration from its 5-door sibling, Thar Roxx. Inside, it will get the free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the 3-spoke steering from the Roxx. It will be equipped with a front armrest, a reverse parking camera, power window switches on the door trims, wireless charging, and more creature comforts. It remains to be seen whether Mahindra will add a Level 2 ADAS package to the feature list. No changes are expected to the powertrain setup of the Thar.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the current XUV700 model start at Rs 13.66 lakh and go up to Rs 23.71 lakh. We expect the prices of the facelifted model to start at Rs 14 lakh. It will continue to rival the Tata Safari, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, MG Hector, Hector Plus, and Kia Seltos in India.
