Mahindra Thar facelift launched in India at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh

The 3-door Mahindra Thar has been refreshed with a facelift. Prices for the new facelifted model start at Rs 9.99 lakh and go up to Rs 16.99 lakh. It comes in 2 trim levels and 3 powertrain options. The higher trim is available with an AWD configuration. At the time of launch, the lifestyle SUV is not available with a soft-top option. Depending on the level of demand from customers, Mahindra may add this option down the line.

Mahindra Thar facelift: What’s new?

The front grille of the Thar is now body-coloured. The bumper has a dual-tone shade. 2 new colour options have been added for the lifestyle SUV – Tango Red and Battleship Grey. The entry-level AXT variant rests on 16-inch steel wheels, and the top-spec LXT variant gets 18-inch alloys. No other cosmetic changes have been made to the SUV.

Inside, the dashboard gets a new all-black look. The steering wheel rocks a new design with mounted controls. Other feature additions include rear AC vents, a fuel lid button near the steering, power window switches mounted on the doors, individual armrests for the driver and the front passenger, and an A-pillar grab handle. The driver’s armrest has a storage compartment.

The SUV also rocks a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Adventure Stats Gen II feature offers off-road data such as racing tab, altimeter, outside temperature and pressure, trip meter and steering direction. The Tyre Direction Monitoring System gives real-time information on tyre orientation. A rear camera and rear wiper/washer have also been added to the Thar facelift.

Things remain the same as the Mahindra Thar facelift continues to be offered in 3 engine options. The 2.0-litre petrol engine powering the lifestyle SUV produces a maximum power output of 152hp. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine generates a maximum power output of 119hp and 300Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine puts out 132hp.

Final Thoughts

Bookings for the new Thar facelift are now open. It continues to rival the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha. The 5-door Thar Roxx range starts at Rs 12.25 lakh and goes up to Rs 22.06 lakh
